Mazda isn't the only brand of vehicles that I appreciate, but it just seems that lately they've been making a comeback in the best ways across their entire lineup. Check Edmund's Inside Line video review - 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX vs 2007 Mazdaspeed 3. I'd go further into debt for a factory turbocharged 3 sedan!

Roadfly's video review of the 2007 Mazdaspeed 3 (I particularly enjoyed his statement towards the end regarding the SCCA):

The next Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Official teaser shot, photoshopped for your viewing convenience:

    Spy shots:

Any thoughts? In this case I don't think even Justin Timberlake can bring sexy back, at least with the Impreza.

Not a fan of SUVs or CUVs, but Nissan has this new model called the Rogue. Does it appeal to any of you CRV or RAV4 fans?

Available only with a 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine and CVT (continuously variable transmission). Starts at $20K and has roughly 170 hp.

I really dislike it when the rest of the world receives better models than the North American market. Here's another example, the Toyota Aurion of Australia in various trim levels or concept forms:

Standard 3.5 liter V6 with 268 hp or a TRD supercharged version belting out 323 hp. Exciting. Now onto nonautomotive news.

This weekend is the largest dragon boat race in the nation, the SF International Dragon Boat Festival/Competition at Treasure Island. Justin, Barney, Jerry, myself and others will be representing our teams (Bay Area Dragons, Lightwave, Dragon Warriors, and Bay Area Dragons). Parking, Admission, and shuttle rides to and from Chinatown, SF are FREE. If you decide to come out, the Yahoo map link is wrong. Use either Mapquest.com or Google maps with zip code 94130. We'll be there all day 'til 5pm Sat & Sun. Some pictures of last year's event:

And finally, the best piece of news. At work I was just retroactively promoted to a level 3 tech. So even though it was announced today, my director and manager are going to backdate the 17.5% salary bump to the middle of this past July! This calls for a celebration...

    Hello friends and family,

It's been a long time. I keep saying that, but it really has been. Actually I just never really update here all that much, but I do read your entries.

Plenty has happened and there are pictures, but I'll have to upload them later. I keep saying that too and I never do. But I have a few handy so I'll post them now!

Any guesses as to who this beautiful lady is? The one in blue, not white =p.

Clue: Queen of them all for 2006-2007! *faints*

(This picture was the result of work, several days of "festivities", sleep deprivation, and partying until 2am. She's guilty of the same plus being part asian and allergic to alcohol. Oh the price we must pay!)

Answer: Meet 2006-2007 Miss Asian America, 2006-2007 Miss Talent, 2006 Miss San Jose Grand Prix, etc...Jennifer Field. =)

    Until then.

    Corny but true
I left work really late and on the way home, I saw a falling star. Either that or someone catapulted a shining flashlight high into the night sky and the batteries died on the way down. At that very moment I was having an affectionate recollection of someone I met Sat night. Have you seen a falling star before? Sadly my first experience seeing one involved a TV, so I just assume they're all fake. Anyone feel that way or is it just me?

Another random thought: I joined a group (Iron Man movie) on Myspace. Afterwards I checked it's list of friends, my account showed "Frisco <3 man". How messed up is that? Is it asking too much for Myspace to spell out mangos?

Make sure you get it boxed
    Hello family and friends!

Been a while since I posted here. To make up for it, here is a little holiday music video starring Justin Timberlake and Adam Samberg from Saturday Night Live. Watch it before NBC removes it from YouTube: In A Box. Oh yeah it's NSFW.

Can I get a swimming pool up in here?
It's been a long time; how are you all doing? Just a few pictures from Michelle's going away bbq. Going away to where? Southern CA (for law school). I will definitely take her up on her offer and visit. Best of luck and study hard!

It's your bbq Michelle; do as you like:

Eventually Michelle, Siri and Co. tire and sit:

    While that's happening...

    That's right. Bbqing w/a flashlight:

Watching movies = Easier than cooking:

    What's all the commotion for?

Oh it looks like someone brought some alcohol and mixers:

The fine art of Li Hing Mango Margaritas:

Linda is now a certified margarita maker:

    Winding down:

The festivities started early around 5 pm and Michelle didn't expect it to go past 10, but when alcohol is involved... She was really surprised with the supply of margarita mixers. Linda walked/stumbled away with the knowledge of making and the appreciation for the special cocktail. There some old friends, many new faces, and plenty of food. Thanks to Jimmy for all the pictures. Turned out to be a great BBQ!

While we're on the topic of margaritas, I had a chance this past weekend to try some from The Margarita King at the SF North Beach festival:

Let me save you 19 bucks. It's crap. All hype. The product belongs in the bottom of a trash bin. It may or may not appeal to the tequila or margarita aficionado, but definitely not to the casual and first-time drinkers. I can tell he doesn't use your average "gold" tequila, but it still doesn't taste good. Did he just miss the entire purpose of a cocktail?

Then again if this Italian margarita creator pumps enough marketing money in his product he might do okay. I mean, look at Red Bull. He's lucky Li Hing Mango Margaritas aren't bottled.

    My 2 cents.

This is a quick update for my family (not the LJ family) on LJ. Ba ngoai was admitted to a hospital Friday night for an appendectomy. She's resting at home now.

    Long overdue update
Currently: Figuring out an easy way to backup the DVD Little Black Book (features Sony's ARccOS copy protection scheme)
Internal pc temp: 40 degrees celsius (104 d.f.)
    Eating: Chicken porridge

That's my way of saying it's hot as balls here in CA. I'm going to rehash a slew of pictures from my cousins kttle's & cutiele703's pages. Birthdays, holidays, etc. in chronological order, hehe. It was really difficult finding pictures of myself with my eyes fully open! Also, it takes a long time to manually code and paste the urls. I haven't installed the LJ client for fear of screwing up my computer. Has it been flawless and saved time for you LJ users? I hurt my shoulder last week playing volleyball, so my gym activity will be limited until the pain goes away. I think I forgot to warmup =(.

Just the other day a friend was pulled over and charged with a DUI. Also someone very dear to me was the passenger, and it could've easily been the other way around (her as the driver & my friend as the passenger). Both were in no shape to be behind the wheel. The worst to come of this besides the arrest was the inappropriate or suggestive behavior by the arresting officers (sheriffs). Two hot intoxicated asian girls and unhappily married old crackers with authority do not mix. Somehow I just knew this would happen when I was text msged in the early morning about the situation. And I also know I will have at least 1 fervent reponse about this incident. There were a few times when I shouldn't have been operating a motor vehicle; it's a wake up call for all. I'm just glad no one was injured or killed.

In another light, here's a funny dui video clip: DUI

One other thing. Khanh's slated to move to Fresno soon to be with her significant other; its hours away. Because of someone, I've actually connected with her much more this year. A small part of me doesn't want her to move so far away from her friends and family. Realize that's a bit selfish, but another part is hoping that they'll make it happen.

Last year I stayed up until 5 am and went with a handful of friends. I think it's becoming an annual thing, how sad =). Feel sorry for the poor saps that wait out in line @Best Buy or other electronics retailers; they always have a limited/minuscule stock of their specials.

Nothing significant to post, except that I saw these two perform at a club Saturday night:

Still can't navigate LJ too well. Sometimes I end up viewing entries from friends instead of looking at my own page when trying to make new posts.
